At Vintage Jazz Art we are dedicated to finding beautiful Jazz and Jazz Dance related artwork from the early 20th century with the intent of reproducing them in the finest possible quality for consumer purchase. We are based out of Rochester, New York, and our artwork is printed at facilities we have found to be of the highest excellence in Georgia and England.
We currently feature four fantastic works of art by three amazing artists: Miguel Covarrubias, Rube Goldberg, and the great Jazz photographer Charles Peterson. The process by which we go through to produce each work is fairly similar. First, we need to obtain permission from the estate of the artist to reproduce the image. Once that is secured, a high-resolution image must be located. Usually these images need a good deal of digital photo restoration before they are of an acceptable quality to print, which we do in-house. Lastly, they are sent off to the printers and printed as giclees, silver gelatin prints, or offset prints. Quality is one of our highest priorities, and you will see a big difference between these prints and any run-of-the-mill poster.
We have many more exciting things in the works for the future, all of which are gorgeous and mostly forgotten by the modern world. Researching sources and making "new" finds has been very rewarding for us and we will be sharing much that we have learned about the history of Jazz and Jazz Dance artwork on this website.
As well as selling right here online, we also bring our prints to many Swing Dance events around the US and Canada. If you stop by you will be able to see the quality of each of our prints in person. Additionally, these events are the only place you will be able to purchase our pieces fully framed and ready for hanging.
See the righthand sidebar for upcoming events in which you can see the artwork in person. If you have any suggestions of where else you would like to see our artwork showcased, please don't hesitate to drop us a line and let us know.
